Postgraduate Opportunities
ContemPo has postgraduate reps, one for each of the core member institutions. Current postgraduate reps include: Jian Farhoumand (Brighton) and Anna Stearman (Surrey). The reps play a key role in maintaining a vibrant postgraduate research culture for all students working in critical-creative practice and poetics scholarship on the MA and PhD programs across the network. Doctoral projects linked to Contempo include:
- Jian Farhoumand, ‘Postwar American Poetry and the Cinematic Influence: Charles Bukowski and the Beat Poets’ (lead supervisor: John Wrighton)
- Anna Stearman, ‘The body on the parapet: Experimental feminist poetics and embodied and textual practice in the semi-derelict suburban space’ (lead supervisor: Stephen Mooney)
- Fiona Cameron, ‘The Hen Wife (poems) and Outside In: An introduction to the New Domestic’ (lead supervisor: Zoë Skoulding)
ContemPo welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD students for projects linked to ContemPo. Studentships (tuition fee and a stipend), may be available through a number of sources, including: TECHNE AHRC Studentships (Brighton and Surrey), Doctoral Career Development Scholarships (Aberystwyth), AHRC Studentship (Bangor).
